Worker’s Compensation

We understand that the workers compensation claim process can be very confusing and at University Physical Therapy, we are here to help as much as we can! The first step after a work injury is to file a claim with your employer then see a doctor. Depending on your injury, your doctor may refer you to a physical therapist to get treatment for your injury.

Although it is more common to see worker’s compensation injuries in more physically demanding jobs, they can occur at just about any workplace. The following are some of the most common injuries sustained at work:

  • Strains of the lumbar and/or thoracic spine
  • Shoulder strains
  • Shoulder impingement
  • Disc herniations and generalized low back pain
  • Overuse and repetitive strain injuries
  • Fall injuries or other job site related trauma

Upon scheduling an appointment with our office, we will collect your claim information so that there is a consistent flow of information to your adjuster. To prepare for your physical therapy appointment, do the following:

  • Bring your referral from the doctor
  • Bring your claim information: claim number, adjuster contact information
  • Be prepared to provide your work injury date and your employer’s information

At University Physical Therapy, we believe early physical therapy intervention with an emphasis on function restoration is one of the most effective ways to approach work-related injuries.
Our rehabilitation program is individually tailored to each patient and includes strengthening, pain relief modalities, patient education, a progressive and carefully monitored exercise program, and consistent communication with the referring physician.
